Did you know?
The Dickinson Theatre Organ Society enjoys a well-known reputation for presenting premier performances on an internationally acclaimed instrument. The DTOS Kimball pipe organ was built in 1928 for Philadelphia’s Boyd Theatre. In 1970 it was re-installed by DTOS volunteers in the auditorium of John Dickinson High School, Wilmington, Delaware. In the succeeding years it has been expanded from the typical movie theatre organ built to accompany silent films into an instrument capable of producing the entire tonal palette of a large orchestra. The instrument now possesses two consoles which enables duo organist performances. With its large resources of 4,365 pipes, percussions and grand piano, all the music from POPS to Classical can be played. The theatre pipe organ is often called a “unit orchestra”! The DTOS Kimball pipe organ is presently the fifth largest theatre pipe organ in existence. If you like to hear outstanding music on an exceptional instrument, we cordially welcome you to enjoy the experience with us!
